Council Member Burress Resigns

Council Member Burress Resigns:

Radford VA-City Council Member Onassis Burress submitted his letter of resignation from the council ending his four-year term early. Councilman Burress is fifteen months into his current four-year term. His resignation was effective as of October 31, 2021. Burress stated in his letter of resignation that he has accepted a new job position in Northern Florida and will be moving from the area.

During his tenure on Council, Burress has served on the Recreation Commission and Chamber of Commerce Board. 

Burress also served the City of Radford on the Radford Chamber of Commerce, as Chamber president, before taking office as a Council Member. 

Mayor Horton stated, “We are thankful for Mr. Burress’ service to Radford and wish him the best on his new endeavor.” 

Council Member Burress stated, “Radford will always hold a special place in my heart and life as it welcomed me in with open arms and allowed me to serve the city in various capacities...for that, I will be forever grateful!”
