The Radford City Police Department is currently taking applications for the position of Police Officer. Certification by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice is preferred but not required. Our agency is accredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.
Job Description / Responsibilities
Duties include enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as ordinances of the City of Radford. Ensures safety of public; enforces laws; investigate criminal activity; gather and processes evidence; testify in Court; prepare and maintain detailed records, files and reports. Officers are required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Starting pay is $42,555.00 with excellent benefits and retirement plan. Our specialty units include K9, bike patrol, and forensics, SWAT and traffic crash reconstruction.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess, or be eligible to obtain, Virginia certification as a law enforcement officer, pass a rigorous background investigation, pass a physical agility test and a written aptitude test and must pass a psychological and a physical examination. You must be 21 years of age with a clean driving record and no criminal history and have high moral standards and practices.
