Blue Ridge Parkway

Outstanding scenery and recreational opportunities make the Blue Ridge Parkway "America's Favorite Drive." Winding through 469 miles of mountain meadows and seemingly endless vistas, split-rail fences, old farmsteads, and historic structures complement spectacular views of distant mountains and neighboring valleys.

Access
It's just a quick 30 mile drive from Radford to access the Parkway at Mile Post 165.

Features
The Parkway includes several parks with visitor centers, camp grounds, picnic areas, trails and, in many instances, lodges, restaurants, and other facilities.
Mabry Mill
A favorite spot for many to visit on the Parkway is Mabry Mill (Mile Post 176.1), featuring a restored gristmill/sawmill/woodworking shop and blacksmith shop. See old time skills like basket weaving, seat caning, spinning, and weaving demonstrated. Applebutter is made on site in October, with old time bluegrass music on Sundays 2-6 p.m.
