RADFORD NAMES NEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

City of Radford Names Kimberly Repass as Economic Development Director

Radford, Va. - The City of Radford announced that Kimberly Repass will serve as its Economic Development Director. Repass was employed with Northern Virginia Firm, GSB Communications, for over eighteen years, serving as a Senior Vice President and Director of Meetings and Education where she oversaw public relations campaigns, marketing and materials development.

During her time with the Washington, DC area firm, Repass managed one of the firm's largest accounts and frequently dealt with policymakers in the nation's capital. She also planned and directed major events for clients.

Repass was raised in Radford and is a graduate of Radford University. Her talents in critical thinking, strategic planning, project management and marketing will serve Radford's collective mission for the success of the economy.

Radford City Manager, David Ridpath said, "I am pleased to be gaining Kim's talent in Radford. She brings energy, marketing expertise, and a vast array of skills necessary to help expand Radford's businesses and address overall economic needs...A great asset to our team."

The appointment follows a national search for a candidate to advance and market the City of Radford’s economic development needs.  “This is an important role in our community, in advancing business interest and private investment,” Ridpath said.  “We have much current activity in the retail sector, with many significant projects that will grow sales, jobs, and economic confidence.”

As a native of Radford, Repass is invested in the growth and development of the City of Radford.

"I am delighted to be able to return to Radford and tremendously excited about the opportunity to promote the city and its many assets to potential businesses who will in turn bring new employment opportunities for Radford residents," Repass said.

"I believe my experience in Washington has provided me with a great foundation in terms of promoting Radford as we strive to enhance our outreach efforts and take advantage of new growth opportunities," Repass added. "We have an appealing story to communicate to business decision makers and I am excited to be a part of this important mission on behalf of the City of Radford."

Repass will begin her duties with the City of Radford on August 26, 2019.
