Edwards Awarded Economic Development Service Award
(Radford, VA) – The City of Radford Economic Development Authority (EDA), formerly known as the Industrial Development Authority, recognized Basil Edwards, Director of Operations for the City of Radford, for his nearly 20 years of service in economic development.
During the EDA’s December board meeting, Chairman Dr. Flo Graham highlighted many of Edwards’ accomplishments during his tenure as Economic Development Director and his successful work in the City of Radford. Accomplishments included the design and sale of the building and property to Aspen Motion Tech in 1999, the building of a facility in 2002 that today houses TechLab that created 90 new jobs and a $7 Million investment in 2011, the creation of economic incentive grants that have helped many businesses in the City of Radford, along with many more accomplishments.
In addition, Edwards has served on many boards representing the City of Radford, including the New River Valley Airport Commission, Virginia’s First Regional Industrial Facility Authority, Radford Chamber of Commerce, Onward NRV, Radford Child Development, and the NRV Development Corporation.

Edwards began serving as Economic Development Director for the City of Radford in March of 1999. In February of 2018, he was named Director of Operations.
