Solicitation Policy

The Radford Public Library, in effort to offer a safe and enjoyable library experience and prevent patrons and staff from feeling harassed or pressured when using the library, does not permit individuals or groups to solicit the public or staff.  Solicitation includes the sale or distribution of merchandise, sales materials, tickets, insurance, coupons, magazine subscriptions, political campaign materials, surveys.  Solicitation also includes recruiting members or clients.

Conducting surveys, soliciting for signatures, etc. and actively approaching people for solicitation purposes is not allowed in the library building or on library property, including the parking lot. 

Exceptions to non-solicitation policy are the following:

  • Those fund-raising projects sponsored by the Library or Lamplighters
  • Authors or businesses invited to offer programming who have books/materials available to sell per Director approval
